How soon should I resume sex? (for women who have actually experienced this)?

I suffered a 2nd degree laceration when delivering my first baby. It's been 6 weeks now since that has happened. I'm ready to resume sex with my husband but am a bit hesitant due to being nervous that it may be painful. I have not even felt around that area to see if it's healed. I do not feel any pain there, but I don't know if that'll change when it comes to sex. Anyone who has actually experienced this, can you give me some advice or suggestions?

I waited 5 weeks and had sex, the first few times it was a bit sore, but nothing bad. Everyone is different, take it slow.
